The International Centre for the Eradication of Poverty is based in Toronto, Canada. The Centre attempts to address poverty through the following activities:
Our Activities

We recognize that poverty is multidimensional phenomenon hence, we will adopt multidimensional responses. Hence, the Centre attempts to address poverty  on many  fronts in integrated manner. Our approach will be two fold: 1) Seek assistance for poor to break away from poverty trap (via empowerment, and 2) to prevent people getting  into that trap (via human rights vehicle, i.e. quality of opportunity, access and affordability). This will be achieved by working with other groups, institutions and individuals working  or interested in this area.

  1. In cooperation with various groups we will Lobby governments at all levels (local, state &  national in developing and developed countries) national and international agencies, local  politicians and others to enforce the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural rights, and monitor their policies and programs to ensure that they are poverty targeted.
  2. Undertaking Research and Development work, create a database of existing national and international poverty elimination projects. This database is made available to other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) for efficient resource mobilization.

Develops strategies, policies and techniques to address poverty at global as well as community levels.

  3. Assist NGOs in resource mobilization nationally and internationally to develop their capacity to eradicate poverty. Resources include: Policies and program ideas, materials, money, voluntary time , field work etc.
  4. Assist NGOs in developing countries directly to build their capacity to address poverty by channeling human and other resources to them, working with them etc.
  5. We will also develop demonstration models of integrated rural development to eradication poverty.
