President:
Dr. Bhausaheb Ubale M.A. Ph.D eco. O.ONT (Order of Ontario)

Dr. Ubale is an Economist and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Project Planning Center, University of Bradford (U.K.). His continuing mission in life has been to bring politicians, academics and grass roots workers together to influence public policy to eradicate poverty. During his career, he has been a scholar, academician, author, public speaker, communicator, organizer, administrator, management consultant, political advisor, holder of public office, community worker and operator at the grass-roots level.

He was Ontario's first Race Relations Commissioner, and has been a Commissioner on both the Ontario and Canadian Human Rights Commissions. His reports and recommendations have led the Government of Ontario to take revolutionary steps in creating the legislative and administrative framework to create better racial harmony in Ontario and in Canada. While holding public positions at the provincial, national and international levels, Dr. Ubale developed an integrated approach to human rights, race relations and multiculturalism.

Dr. Ubale has been named to the Order of Ontario, and has received Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee Medal.

Pratibha Bhole

Pratibha Bhole After arriving in Canada in 1998, Ms. Bhole joined the International Centre for Eradication of Poverty and coordinated their various activities. She was instrumental in organizing the function to commemorate UN International Day for Eradication of Poverty in Toronto in Metro Hall. She also participates in social service activities of different ethnic associates and organizations. Originally from India Ms. Bhole has dedicated her life to helping others establishing herself as a respected social worker.

 Swinitha Coswatte

Swinittha is an Economist, currently working on the World Bank project on rural development in Srilanka. 

Consultant - Human Resources Development in Srilanka.


Coordinator for technical and support services

 Jitendra (Jitu) Sagare:

While working for IBM as certified Project Manager Professional, Jitu has contributed his IT as well as project management skills for various projects of ICEP. Initially engaged with website development but later shared his project management skills to care of projects in all phases like initiation, planning, execution, control and closing. Jitu's resourceful contacts has helped ICEP to establish technically and accomplish the best in this online world to spread the word about poverty eradication concept.


Coordinator for Health Issues

Dr. Sonali Sagare

Having worked as surgeon in India, Dr. Sonali shared her knowledge and skills to various health related projects conducted by ICEP in India. Her ongoing consultation skill is utilized for education and awareness projects related to women health nourishment and kids development in third world countries.

The Honourable Roy McMurtry


The Honourable Roy McMurtry, former Ontario Chief Justice and Attorney General and Canadian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, is the twelfth Chancellor of York University.

Born in Toronto, Mr. McMurtry is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1958. After practicing as a trial lawyer for 17 years, he was elected to the Ontario Legislature in 1975, where he was immediately appointed Attorney General by then-Premier William Davis.  As Attorney General, Mr. McMurtry argued constitutional cases in the Supreme Court of Canada and played a key role in the negotiations leading to the patriation of the Constitution with an entrenched Charter of Rights in 1982. Mr. McMurtry left office in1985 to become Canada’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. In 1996, he was appointed Chief Justice of Ontario after serving as the Chief of the Superior Court of Justice.

Mr. McMurtry is the founder and President of the Osgoode Society, a body established in 1979 for the writing of Canadian legal history which to date has published 70 books. In 2007, his significant contributions to the legal profession were recognized with Osgoode Hall Law School’s Award of Excellence (The Robinette Medal) and the President of the Bar Association’s Award of Merit. He also received an honorary Degree from York University in 1991. He was invested into the Order of Ontario in January 2008.

Ian is the Master of McLaughlin College. He is also the Coordinator of the Graduate Diploma in Justice System Administration,and the Graduate Diploma in Democratic Administration. He teaches courses in Canadian public law, the Charter of Rights, judicial administration, program evaluation, political ethics, Canadian government, and public administration. He has been coordinator of York's undergraduate program in public policy and administration, as well as the undergraduate director in the political science department. He was an associate dean in the Faculty of Arts from 1997 to 2000. He is associate director of York's MPA Programme, and co-director of the professional development LLM programme in administrative law. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Centre for Practical Ethics, and the Centre for Public Law and Public Policy. From 2003 to 2004, he was Chair of the York University Senate. On the research front, Ian was the principal author of Final Appeal, which was published in 1998 and co-authored with Carl Baar, Peter McCormick, George Szablowski and Martin Thomas. The book analyses decision-making in Canadian appeal courts, and is based on interviews with 101 of Canada s appellate court judges, including 8 of the 9 Supreme Court of Canada judges. Ian's co-authored book with David Shugarman, Honest Politics, was published in March, 1997. His other books are The Charter of Rights (1989), and Judges and Judging (1990), with Peter McCormick. His publisher is James Lorimer & Co. As well, he was a member of the research team, led by Prof. Maureen Mancuso at the University of Guelph, which published A Question of Ethics (Oxford) in 1998. He is currently finishing a book on Democracy and the Courts, which is part of the Canadian Democratic Audit project. He hopes to complete a new edition of The Charter of Rights soon.

A student of Masters in Public Policy and Law. She has developed social enterprise set up for women with disabilities and several inclusive education programs.  Shirin completed her post degree diploma in Not for Profit Management from University of Western Ontario and Masters in Education and Bachelors in Special Needs and Commerce.  She has been advisor to various not for profit agencies.
